Einstök Ölgerð Launches New Vintage-Dated Winter Ale In U.S.

Winter is here and Einstök Olgerd, Iceland’s #1 craft beer, is proud to announce that Icelandic Winter Ale will now join Icelandic Doppelbock for the holidays. For the first time, U.S. Vikings will be able to conquer the holidays with Einstök’s extremely limited winter ale.

“From its native Icelandic ingredients to the unique brewing process, this is truly a special ale” said Gudjon Gundmundsson, Einstök’s Managing Director from Reykjavik. “It was received with great fanfare here in Iceland last year, so we are very excited to now make it available in the U.S.”

In collaboration with Eimverk Distillery in Garðabær, this special 2017 release ale is brewed with Icelandic grown, birchwood-smoked barley and flavored with spruce tips hand cut from our brewmaster’s backyard. At an ABV of 8%, the smoky pine and whisky flavor is not for the faint-hearted. It is to be earned.

Iceland’s Premier Craft Beer Launches Scotch Ale Brewed with Smoked Icelandic Barley and Angelica

AKUREYRI, Iceland – September 13, 2016 – Five years ago today, Einstök Ölgerð began selling beer throughout Iceland. Now they serve their award-winning beers in 22 countries throughout the world and are the #1 craft beer out of Iceland. In a Reykjavik celebration held to thank their loyal Icelandic customers, Einstök officially launched its newest style, the Icelandic Wee Heavy.

Einstök Icelandic Wee Heavy is an 8.0 ABV Scotch Ale brewed with handpicked angelica and birch-smoked Icelandic barley. It will be sold year-round in 330ml bottles and on draft in various keg sizes. It is available now in Iceland and will be launched in Europe in the next few weeks. It will be available in the United States in early 2017.

Based on data from Statistics Iceland, Einstök is now the largest exporter of alcoholic beverages from Iceland, representing nearly 80% of all exports in the category in 2016. The beer is widely available throughout Iceland and is also available in the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Poland, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Portugal, Switzerland, Austria, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Greenland and China.

Most recently, Einstök entered the Wisconsin market (distributing through Beer Capitol, CJW, Inc. and Frank Beer Distributors) and, in addition to Powers Distribution, began working with additional distributors in Michigan (HIS Distributing, JP O’Sullivan Distributing and O&W), with more expected to join soon.
